Close Collaboration Characterizes the Evaluation of the Virginia Reading First Program
RMC was awarded a contract to evaluate the Virginia Reading First program beginning in the fall of 2008. Reading First is being implemented in 87 schools statewide serving about 17,000 students. For this work, RMC has used a process whereby the data are analyzed and presented to the VDOE Reading First team using an open forum format. Under this format, evaluators and the implementation team engage in a discussion about the findings before the report is completed. At the discussion, implementation information is used to complement the data analyses and to promote changes in program activities.
